The former FC Barcelona forward believes one of the French World Cup winning side or Eden Hazard should receive the award

The battle to claim the Ballon d'Or remains wide open this year and Thierry Henry, who recently took over at Monaco, has revealed who he feels should take home the prize.

The former Barcelona forward said this: "It would be a travesty if a French player or Eden Hazard didn't win it." Henry wouldn't be drawn on any specific members of the France squad but obviously had no issue name dropping Hazard who he worked with whilst at Belgium.

Henry considers that Hazard was "by some distance" the best player at the World Cup. However he doesn't rule out a member of France's World Cup winning side being named the best player in the world. "Maybe we're biased, maybe, but it'd be very good for French football too."

However it appears Henry doesn't believe the man who won 'The Best', Luka Modric, nor Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi deserve to win this year.
