PSG step up efforts to sign Alexis
Antero Henrique, the French clubs sporting director, has travelled to London to negotiate with Arsenal
The deal would not affect the move for Neymar, who is still in Al-Khelaifi's sights
PSG want to add Alexis Sánchez to their squad and, given Arsenal’s refusal to sell to Manchester City, are pressing ahead with the deal. Representatives have flown to London to negotiate the deal.
PSG’s new sporting director returned hurriedly from the US, where he was accompanying PSG’s US tour, to meet with Nasser Al- Khelaïfi in Paris. It is understood that Sánchez was on the agenda, in addition to Neymar.
According to French media, PSG have already submitted an offer of €40 million for Alexis, which is thought to be below Arsenal’s asking price but will act as a starting point for negotiations after the player has let it be known he wants Champions League football next year.
The interest in Alexis Sánchez will not affect the move for Neymar, as the president Al-Khelaïfi wants Alexis, Neymar and Cavani all in the same squad to provide a top quality forward line. PSG are also stepping up their interest in Coutinho, a friend of Neymar, and are looking for a new goalkeeper.
