PSG exploring the option of taking Xavi Hernandez on loan from Al-Sadd

According to reports in France, Paris Saint-Germain are exploring the option of taking Xavi Hernandez on loan when he signs for his new club in Qatar, Al-Sadd.

Le Parisien say PSG want to add more quality in midfield in the form of a well-known player and are thinking of Barcelona's Xavi, 35. After 17 years in the first team he has decided to leave the Catalan club, saying goodbye against Deportivo at the weekend.

In the article it's explained that the owner of Al-Sadd is the brother of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, suggesting the two could strike a deal.

The idea would be that Xavi, before his adventure begins in Qatari football, would spend one more season with the elite. However, Xavi, who has signed a two year deal with Al-Sadd will have the final word.

And as Le Parisien point out, Xavi has said to Barcelona that doesn't "want to play in another European team" because "I don't want to play against FC Barcelona."

A deal seems unlikely, but it would not be unprecedented. Frank Lampard left Chelsea for New York City last summer, but was then loaned back to Manchester City for the season, going on to score against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.
