Official: Zubizarreta appointed Marseille's new sporting director

"I'm happy to be at a club with so much personality," he said at his presentation

Marseille have officially confirmed the appointment of Andoni Zubizarreta as the club’s new sporting director. The former Barcelona man will work with the club’s new manager, Rudi Garcia.

"I'm happy to be at a club with so much personality and I hope I will live up to the trust placed in me,” Zubizarreta said at his presentation. “It’s a club that breathes football, a team with a great heart and soul.

“I’ve spoke with Rudi Garcia. He has an attractive philosophy. He likes to play football. We see the sport in the same way.”

On players playing in the Spanish league, Zubi said that “it’s possible” he’ll look at signing some. “It’s the league I know the best. But football is European, global these days. I also have to look at players in France. We’re going to go for the best players, be that Spanish, French, German…”

Zubizarreta aand Rudi Garcia’s arrivals are an important step forward for Marseille, who are now in the hands of Jaques-Henry Eyraud.
