Al-Khelaifi has set his sights on the Spain stopper

The French club want to sign him for free in 2019

David de Gea is out of contract with Manchester United in June 2019 and he's been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

However, Paris Saint-Germain has now emerged as another destination, with reports in France claiming he's the club's primary objective.

PSG signed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer and have set their sighs on a goalkeeper as they look to build a top level squad.

De Gea is on a list which also features Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois and Donnarumma, who this summer signed a contract renewal with AC Milan despite previosuly saying he would not.

Signed from Atletico in 2011 for 25 million euros, De Gea has not just helped United forget Van der Sar, but has also replaced Iker Casillas in the Spain team.

Courtois and Donnarumma are also targets for the Ligue 1 club

The Ligue 1 leaders feel they made a mistake with their bet on Kevin Trapp in 2015 and believe Alphonse Areola is a good backup but not a starting stopper for a team with their aspirations.

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is the biggest fan of the signing and has had talks with De Gea's representatives to encourage them to keep their client at United until the end his deal, in 2019, and then move to Paris for free.

That way, PSG would be able to pay a juicy signing on fee, perhaps even as high as 30 million euros.
