Barcelona miss out on Rosario Central's Lo Celso to PSG
Giovanni Lo Celso is a genuine sensation in Argentine football. The Rosario Central creative midfielder has become one of the most wanted players in South American football due to his technical ability and his vision of play.
Barcelona had a serious chance of signing him, although an operation to do so didn’t go well and it seems in the coming days he will sign for Paris Saint-Germain.
The player was offered, in a discrete way, to the Catalan club, who had received excellent reports. However, they suspended the talks as they weren’t sure how he would adapt to the team’s system.
During that delay, PSG seduced Lo Celso’s representatives and are now close to securing his signature.
Lo Celso is a pure Argentine ‘enganche’, an attacking midfielder or No.10 who has a dreamy final ball. A number of his goals and assists have gone viral on social media since he made his debut for Rosario.
He is still just 20, but Barça have been following him for a while. Their scouts have seen him play a number of times as they weighed up whether to make an official move.
The player’s father and agent, though, confirmed a few days ago that PSG are close to completing a deal, with just a few details to be ironed out. Atletico Madrid and Roma had also been in touch about a transfer.
