Barcelona are willing to pay up to €50m to sign Marco Verratti

Barcelona want the services of PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, but the club will not sell him for the €50million that Barcelona might put on the table, according to French source Le Parisien.

"After trying to seduce Thiago Silva in 2013 and Marquinhos in 2014, La Liga's leaders want the Italian, of 22 years" explained the paper, also bringing up Luis Enrique's positive comments about him.

They say that he is wanted to become the successor to Xavi, who at 35 may well leave the Camp Nou at the end of the season.

"There has still been no official offer on the table but the Spanish directors are willing to meet a €50m price," for the player who has a contract in Paris until 2019.

In any case, Barcelona won't move for him until 2016, because they cannot sign players thanks to the FIFA sanction.

Verratti, for his part, has not shut the doors to the Catalan club, but is grateful for PSG for helping him become a key piece of Laurent Blanc's side.

"What player wouldn't like to play in a club like that? It's very flattering, but PSG believed in me when many thought I couldn't play at this level," said the player, who earns around €400,000 a month, the 10th highest salary at PSG.
