Zidane: Ronaldo has spoken with everyone, me included

Zinedine Zidane says Cristiano Ronaldo has talked to all of his Real Madrid team-mates after his comments following the defeat to Atletico Madrid at the weekend

The Porguguese international said if all the players were at his level, Madrid would currently be at the top of La Liga.

However, as reported on Monday, he has since communicated to his team-mates - first via WhatsApp and later after training - that his comments were misinterpreted.

Ronaldo says he was talking about fitness levels, as opposed to ability.

Zidane has confirmed the 31-year-old has had to explain what he meant by his mixed zone words, but assured reporters in a press conference that it's now in the past.

"Cristiano spoke with everyone - and with me as well," the French coach said from Valdebebas.

"It's already in the past. We are with him. The matter has been fixed. We will move on with this together, but internally, not externally."

Ronaldo's comments naturally led to questions about the squad's fitness, but Zidane said there is not a problem in that department.

"We're doing well physically," he continued.

"For me, the defeat in the derby is not a question of fitness. That Atletico ran more than us is just data, for me we're doing well physcially.

"It's other things. We have to win our battles. We lost a lot of battles. I see the team improving and we are still going to improve more, too.

"I don't know if I'm convinving you... Yes, it's an attitude problem. What we have to do is make sure it doesn't happen again."
