Zidane admits Cheryshev could leave Real Madrid soon

Zinedine Zidane has opened the door for Sevilla or Liverpool to make a move for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

The Premier League side were keen to sign the Russian international in the summer, but were dealt a blow when Rafa Benitez decided to keep him in the Spanish capital.

However, he’s not featured under Zidane and his desire to feature at the European Championships this summer has forced him to consider a move.

“It looks like Cheryshev will leave during the current transfer window,” the French coach admitted after his side thrashed Espanyol 6-0 on Sunday.

“He need playing time - I wish him the best.”

Cheryshev, 25, famously played and scored in Madrid’s Copa del Rey win over Cadiz earlier this season, but he was supposed to be suspended for an accumulation of bookings in the competition last season.

Los Blancos were subsequently thrown out of the cup.

As well as Liverpool and Sevilla, Villarreal have shown an interest in taking him back to El Madrigal, but that interest has waned over the last week.

There are also Bundesliga clubs who could provide competition for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the mad dash for signings on Monday.
