Vela admits he could leave Real Sociedad in January

Carlos Vela has admitted he considered leaving Real Sociedad during the summer and refused to rule out a departure when the transfer window opens again in January.

The Mexican striker drew interest from MLS and other European clubs, but ended up remaining in San Sebastian.

"There are options to leave during every transfer window," he said.

"I had more options to leave this summer than normally, though. I can't say much more. I have to admit I thought about leaving la Real.

"The offer from MLS was interesting, but in the end it didn't happen and I am still here.

"I spoke with [Real Sociedad president Jokin] Aperribay, but I did not say either I go or I won't play.

"If one day I leave here it will be because I need something new, not because I am not happy here.

"Until January I will continue, happy at la Real -- would I leave then? In each transfer window there are options to leave."

Real Sociedad have started the season poorly, failing to score in any of their three winless games to date in la Liga.

Vela accepts his part in that, but is condfident things can change soon.

"I'm still not right physically," he added. "I hope that I'll be able to help the team soon.

"We have to be together through the good moments and the bad moments. The team's not right at the moment.

"We have to start showing [what we can do], change the dynamic and look at things differently."

Finally, the 26-year-old said he gets "on well with [manager David] Moyes, our relationship is really good."
