Spain 2-0 England: Mario Gaspar bags a wonder-goal

Eventually the goals came. It took a moment of genius, with Cesc Fabregas' perfect chip incredibly volleyed home on the spin by Mario Gaspar breaking the deadlock.

Then another well worked strike was superbly finished by Santi Cazorla to give Spain a victory they deserved.

England were largely toothless, though Spain's striking duo of Diego Costa and Paco Alcacer weren't looking sharp either, failing to get a shot on target between them.

Spain were, however, dominating the midfield - with Thiago Alcantara, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas, who all played together at Barcelona, well on top.

Thiago was taken off as a precaution in the first half after going down, but it didn't affect Spain's strong showing.

The introduction of Nolito in the second period helped give Spain a cutting edge, with Kyle Walker struggling to contain the Celta Vigo man.

Eventually Cesc and Villar combined for the first goal, before Pedro fed Nolito who cut it back for Cazorla to add the second late on.
