Sevilla's president wants Copa final at Santiago Bernabeu too

Sevilla president Pepe Castro announced on Thursday his club have asked the RFEF for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu. Castro said "the choice was taken for the number of fans you can fit in the stadium" and hoped that Real Madrid would reconsider their decision not to let the final be hosted there. In any case, Castro also said he would not like the final to be held at Camp Nou.

Pepe Castro indicated that there would be a meeting between the two finalists next week and the final venue would be decided quickly. "The first thing is to have a meeting with the Federation and i there is a problem, each one can act how they see fit. We want the final in a stadium with the biggest capacity and with the most comfort for our fans and it's clear this is in Madrid." Castro hinted this would be the Vicente Calderon if the Bernabeu does not happen.

He has not spoken to Real Madrid yet, explaining: "I can't talk about a Madrid negative because I don't know yet, and I don't know the certainty of it. If there is, we will see if there can be a solution."

Of the Camp Nou, he added: "It would make no sense for us as an away trip and for many other factors. I'm sure we will not play at the Camp Nou."
