Sevilla new boy Konoplyanka dreaming of playing for Barcelona
Oleg Konoplyanka, the father of Sevilla's new signing Yevhen Konoplyanka, has revealed in an interview that his son hopes to play for Barcelona one day. Speaking to 'matchday.ua', Oleg Konoplyanka said that the Ukraine international has many targets he hopes to meet in his career, one of which is to make it to Barça.
"What's most important for us at the moment is that the documents arrive from Dnipro as soon as possible so that he can begin pre-season [with Sevilla]. It's true that Atletico Madrid were very interested in my son, but we chose Sevilla because of their style of play, which will suit his characteristics much more. A 4.5 million euro salary and a release clause of 35 million euros? That's just rumours, it's not true. The main objective for Yevhen in the future is to play for FC Barcelona, although we understand that is too soon [for that]."
Konoplyanka, 25, was one of the most wanted players in European football after a fantastic season with Dnipro,who made the Europa League final, eventually losing to Sevilla, Yevhen Konoplyanka's new club, in Warsaw. He played 42 games during the campaign and scored eight goals.
