Ronaldo on Benitez and wanting to retire at Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has recognised, in an interview with La Sexta, that he had no understanding with former Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez. He also insisted that he wants to remain at the club and had no problem admitting that not winning the Champions League would be "a failure".

Asked about the advice Benitez gave him about taking free-kicks, Ronaldo's response was laced with irony: "You can always learn from coaches. Some things you can learn and other things you can't, though. There are things that no-one can teach you. He'd just say: 'Right'. Sometimes there are things which you cannot debate with another person because they think so differently to you, you just say thanks, and that's all."

However, Ronaldo feels good with Zidane. He's clever, he doesn't talk a lot, but he focuses on lots of things and he's very professional. I learn a lot from him, I hope he stays," he commented.

On his future, the former Manchester United man was clear. For now, he will continue at Madrd. "Retire at Madrid? We will see... It would be an intelligent move by Madrid [to offer a new deal]. If you were the president, would you renew me?" he asked the journalist Josep Pedrerol . "I want to stay at Real Madrid, there's no better club."

As for the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid, CR7 said that "it would be an excellent season if we win it and a failure if we lose."

Finally, the forward focused on a future where he will have to learn to control how much he plays and not force his involvement in every game. "People say to me: 'You're not 20 anymore...’ But in my head I still think I'm a kid, I think I'm younger because my body is healthy and well. It's something I have to learn to do, though, to tell myself to stop every two or three games. I know my body will not be the same and I have to mange it right," he concluded.
