Real Madrid target Porto left-back Miguel Layun for next season

Real Madrid target Porto left-back Miguel Layun for next season

One of Real Madrid’s priorities for next season is to sign a left-back. Rafa Benitez requested the signing of one last season, as the squad only has Marcelo, but Florentino Perez refused to bring in a back-up.

Both Portuguese and Mexican media have reported that the club are interested in signing Mexican international Miguel Layun, a Watford full-back who is having an excellent season on loan at Porto. He has scored three goals and laid on 18 assists, demonstrating his excellent attacking ability.

Real Madrid scouts have followed his evolution at Porto and his matches with Mexico and the reports are good. Los Blancos see him as an affordable option for the summer, even though the negotiations may be complicated.

Layun belongs to Premier League club Watford, but Porto have an option to buy him for six million euros in the summer. They could sign him, though, and then sell him to Real Madrid, making an immediate profit.

Madrid also have Bayer Leverkusen’s Wendell on their list of targets, who would cost 20 million euros.

Wolfburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez has been ruled out, though, as the German club are asking for 25 million euros. Layun is a much more affordable option.
