Real Madrid table shows Cristiano Ronaldo is top Liga goalscorer, not Barça star Lionel Messi

Real Madrid TV are so desperate to see Cristiano Ronaldo hailed as the top scorer in La Liga's history that they've placed him at the top of the list.

The official television channel of Los Blancos developed a ranking which puts Ronaldo ahead of not just Lionel Messi, but also Telmo Zarra

Their table uses average goals per game, which puts Ronaldo top of the chart with 1.12, while Zarra is second on 0.91. Messi is third with 0.87 per game.

In short, it is statistical engineering by Real Madrid which shows that they are having trouble digesting Messi's hat-trick on Saturday which made him the division's all time top scorer.

Madrid's table ignores the fact that Messi's average is diluted by the time he spent growing as a player, including his teenage years.

Ronaldo of course, arrived from Manchester United for a world record transfer fee and was entering his peak.
