Real Madrid star Gareth Bale a major doubt for Liverpool and Barcelona

Gareth Bale will almost certainly miss Real Madrid's Champions League clash at Anfield on Wednesday night and is a major doubt for Barcelona's visit to the Bernabeu on Saturday.

However, Madrid didn't confirm how long he would be absent for in the statement they published on their website on Monday. 

"Ater tests carried out on Gareth Bale by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical services," they wrote, "he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the right pyramidalis muscle.

"His progress will be monitored."

It seems almost impossible that the Welsh international will be involved in England, although he could still have a chance of being fit for the Barça match.

Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Bale was injured after Madrid's win over Levante on Saturday.

The former Tottenham man didn't play in the game, although he did travel with the team to Valencia and was named as a substitute.
