Real Madrid sign Barcelona target Danilo from Porto for huge €31.5m fee

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Danilo for €31.5million from Porto.

Barcelona wanted to sign the full-back to replace Dani Alves but were beaten to the punch by Carlo Ancelotti's side, who have pinned him down until June 30, 2021.

Danilo, 23, will fight for a place in the side with Dani Carvajal, the same age, while Alvaro Arbeloa seems set for the exit at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazilian defender, friends with Barcelona star Neymar, will join Madrid when the season ends.

He has impressed at Porto, attacking with a similar style to Alves, with pace, strength and good technical ability.

Danilo has scored five goals this season, four in La Liga and one in the Champions League.

He has won the league twice with Porto and the Supercup twice too, as well as the U20 World Cup in 2011 with Brazil, and a silver medal with his country at the 2012 Olympic games in London.
