Benitez's Real Madrid set to take Lucas Vazquez back from Espanyol

Benitez's Real Madrid set to take Lucas Vazquez back from Espanyol

Lucas Vazquez's return to Real Madrid will be made official imminently. Espanyol will keep 25 percent of the player's rights.

"We have reached an agreement with Madrid." These were the words of Espanyol president Joan Collet when asked about the Madrid-Lucas situation.

It's been less than a month since Espanyol communicated they would take up their option to sign the player following his excellent season on loan.

But there hasn't even been time for them to make their first payment for the player and Rafa Benitez has asked for his return to the capital.

Collet admitted that "Madrid have revealed their interest and made us an offer. We negotiated and we have reached an agreement."

One of the most important details of that agreement, the president of the Catalan club revealed, is that Espanyol "will keep 25 percent of the player's rights."

However, he would not reveal the financial aspect of the operation. Espanyol are yet to make any of their scheduled payments for the player, which will now be wiped out, with Madrid instead rumoured to have to pay the Pericos one million euros.

Collet also said that there will be no players included in the operation, although it's not out of the question that Marco Asensio or Burgui could arrive at Cornella-El Prat this summer.
