Real Madrid go in search of goals against Real Betis

Real Madrid take on Real Betis on Saturday night as the debate continues over the lack of goals under Rafa Benitez since he took over earlier this summer.

Benitez took on his critics on Friday. "Real Madrid are the team with the most shots on goal in Spain's top flight so far," he pointed out after the goalless draw with Sporting Gijon.

Against Betis, in front of the home support, there is a chance for Benitez to silence the doubts. Madrid have failed to score in five games, including friendlies, since he took charge, but that could change against a side who were promoted from the second division last season.

It looks like Karim Benzema will once again be missing. Despite being back in training, he lacks match fitness after three weeks out.

Without the Frenchman, Benitez has two options: He could go 4-4-2, with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in attack, with Isco and James Rodriguez also involved; or he could play 4-2-3-1, with Jese as a N0.9 and Isco or James on the bench.

There are also questions marks in defence. Danilo or Dani Carvajal at right-back? Raphael Varane or Pepe in the middle?

Pepe Mel, Betis's coach, also has issues. Dani Ceballos is wanted by Real Madrid and was left out of the starting lineup last weekend because his head is not in the right place. He's also without the injured Rafa van der Vaart.

Meanwhile, he's yet to close the signings of Joaquin or Adriano, but, with ther exception of Matilla and Guerrero, has everyone else available for selection, including Ruben Castro.
