Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's millions losing weight in transfer market
Real Madrid, by the hand of Florentino Perez, have revolutionised the transfer market in recent years with the signing of players who are being discussed widely in the media at that moment. For example, they moved for Danilo last season (31.5m euros), James Rodriguez after his World Cup display (75m) and a year before it was Gareth Bale (101m).
However, Madrid have struggled this summer. They wanted Paul Pogba but Manchester United are winning the battle for him. Meanwhile, with no transfers made bar the return of Alvaro Morata (30m), Barcelona have secured four stars. Zidane has passed his list of demands to Perez, but for the moment none of the players have been optained.
Madrid have one more month to complete their squad for the new season. However, their inactivity could change because of the imminent FIFA sanction on them, which will not allow them to sign players in the next two windows. When that happened to Barcelona, they signed nine players in the window beforehand.
