Real Madrid player ratings: James Rodriguez perfect supporting act

Real Madrid player ratings: James Rodriguez perfect supporting act

Iker Casillas 5: Soft goalkeeping to be beaten at his near post by Nolito, but can blame the defence too. No chance with the second.

Dani Carvajal 5: Dani Alves was roasted by Nolito when Barcelona visited Balaidos and the wide man did the same to Carvajal here for the first goal, shaking him far too easily.

Sergio Ramos 7: Decent first half, despite Madrid shipping twice. Brilliant run and pass, for Hernandez to complete his brace.

Raphael Varane 5: In contrast to his recent good displays, looked shaky. Should have run to cover Mina rather than chasing the ball for the second goal.

Marcelo 5: Caught out of position by Santi Mina, who punished Madrid by firing in Celta's second. Lacked his usual vibrancy.

Asier Illarramendi 4: Off the pace and who can blame him? Ancelotti has barely used the midfielder this season and so when it comes to the crunch, there's no way he can be at his best. Huge gaps in the midfield, which he should have been responsible for blocking.

Toni Kroos 6: Showed the laser precision we've come to expect from the German, drilling home Madrid's first goal from 15 yards. Lucky not to conceed a penalty after going through the back of Fabian Orellana in the box.

Isco 7: Amazing piece of skill to get Madrid moving for their third goal, finding Ronaldo, who laid it off to James. Should have scored in the second half, but was shepherded away from goal by Serigo Alvarez.

James Rodriguez 8: Mercurial. His goal aside, deflected, but deserved, the Colombian was outstanding. Set up Hernandez with some clever play for the second goal.

Javier Hernandez 9: Sharp interplay in the first half with James and an even sharper finish. Also played in Ronaldo, who hit the post. Doubled his goal-tally when sent through by Ramos in the second half.

Cristiano Ronaldo 8: Unselfish work led to Kroos' goal, after his cross was cut out. Played in James for No 3 and also hit the post in the first half.
