Real Madrid loan hot prospect keeper Augusto Batalla for a year

Goalkeeper Augusto Batalla is set to join Real Madrid on a one-year loan deal from Argentine side River Plate.

The River president, Rodolfo D'Onofrio, confirmed the move is set to go through after his side's draw with Juan Aurich in the Copa Libertadores, although he added that the final details still need to be signed.

"The contract is still not signed," he said, "but in June Augusto Batalla will go to Real Madrid for a year, with the option to buy for a high price at the end of that year."

With Iker Casillas and Keylor Navas currently competing for a first team spot in Carlo Ancelotti's side, Madrid are looking for a  third, younger goalkeeping option — similarly to how they have recently sought out Martin Odegaard and Marcos Asensio for the future.

Batalla, who was born in 1996 and is still just 18, is therefore likely to be the No.1 for Real Madrid Castilla next season.

He is already an international with Argentina U20s and if he impressed next season is likely to earn himself a permanent move to the Bernabeu.

How much a potential transfer may cost, though, has not been revealed.
