Real Madrid deny talks with Marco Verratti's agent or Paris Saint-Germain

Real Madrid, as they did after Paul Pogba stories emerged last week, have released a statement denying they are in talks with either Marco Verratti or Paris Saint-Germain.

It was reported on Tuesday that they were prepared to pay 60 million euros for the Italian midfielder, but they deny that to be true.

"In light of the rumours spread by various media outlets concerning an alleged offer on the part of Real Madrid for the player Marco Verratti..." the statement began.

"The club states: That Real Madrid have not made any contact with PSG or the player's agent, and therefore these rumours are completely untrue."

Verratti is one of the players with the most potential in European football. At 22, the PSG player is admired by the continent's biggest clubs and Madrid are still thought to be one of them.

However, they have rejected this for now, as Florentino Perez begins talks with new manager Rafa Benitez over how to strengthen the squad over the summer.
