Real Madrid continue their chase for young prospects

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dedicated plenty of time and effort in trying to attract the most promising youngsters in world football.

These endeavours have led to the incorporation of such prospects as Marco Asensio (20-years-old), on loan at Espanyol last season, Jesus Vallejo (19), loaned to Zaragoza last term, Norwegian Martin Odegaard (17), Uruguayan Federico Valverde (17), Dutchman Mink Peeters (18) and Paraguayan Sergio Diaz (18), who arrived in Madrid at the start of July, from Cerro Porteño.

'Los Blancos' have taken the idea of recruiting young faces seriously, given the impending FIFA sanction, which will see the club unable to bring in fresh talent for two transfer windows.

The club have now set their sights on another great prospect of European football, winger Leroy Sane, according to German TV channel 'Sky Deutschland', and are poised to complete a deal for Norwegian centre-back Ulrik Jenssen, according to 'France Football'.

At 20-years-old, Sane has already made his international debut with Germany, and has a lucrative offer on the table from Manchester City.

Conscious of the fact that the player may well be one of the big names of the next decade, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in signing him.

His progression has been meteoric since his arrival at Schalke five years ago, from Bayer Leverkusen. Just over two years ago, he made his Bundesliga debut, and a year later, Joachim Low gave him the chance to make his national team bow.

The fact that the player's contract expires next summer has forced Schalke's hand, and the German side will negotiate his sale for a fee of around 45 million euros.

Much more advanced is the signing of Ulrik Jenssen. The defender has spent three seasons in the Olympique Lyon youth sides, from where he is about to make the leap to the Real Madrid base at Valdebebas.
