Real Madrid and Atletico's directors fall out at pre-derby meal

The pre-match dinner between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid's directors on Sunday before the derby did not end well. What was supposed to be a cordial event ended in tension, with the Madrid delegation leaving the restaurant, La Taberna del Capitan Alatriste, early.

According to the newspaper 'AS', there was tension between the directors during the meal. The reason for this seems to the telvesion rights. Madrid president Florentino Perez was upset with the stance Miguel Angel Gil Marin took when the rights were being negotiated.

Atletico's representatives, according to 'AS', defended their position, aruging that it was for the good of Spanish foorball to support centralised TV rights, while the Madrid directors were inflexible with their argument.

The discussion became more and more heated, until the Madrid delegation decided to leave the restaurant, with Perez leading the exit. It's reported that the Madrid president was so angry, he decided in that moment not to even sit in the box at the Vicente Calderon -- although he did not follow through with that promise.

CEREZO: "The relationship is perfect"

Atletico Madrid's president Enrique Cerezo, however, said on tuesday that the relationship between the two clubs remains "magnificent, in fact it is perfect." Although he would not deny that Perez and his team left the tradition dinner early.

"We have a magnificent relationship with them all teams, especially with Real Madrid, among both the fans and the directors. What we want to say, and I what I have to say, is that the relationship is perfect."

With respect to the dinner and Madrid's early exit, Cerezo said: "You'll have to ask whoever gave you the informaiton. They will tell you everything, because it seems as if they know all the details."
