Rayo Vallecano won't punish Antonio Amaya for speeding

Rayo Vallecano say they will not punish Antonio Amaya after he was arrested for speeding on Monday evening.

A statement released by the Madrid-based club on Wednesday said that it was a "private" matter and one which they felt happy to leave in the hands of the law as it has not damaged the image of the club.

Therefore, they confirmed, they will further punish the former Real Betis player.

The 32-year-old defender was caught doing 234km/h in his Porsche Panamera on Madrid's M-303, which has a speed limit of 100km/h.

Amaya was stopped by the Guardia Civil and faces the loss of his drivin licence for up to four years, while he is also likely to be handed a substantial fine.
