Ramos: My mistake? What about Benitez's changes?

Sergio Ramos has responded to criticism from Rafa Benitez, saying the Real Madrid boss' changes against Atletico Madrid could also be called into questioned.

Benitez spoke out about the Ramos giving away a penalty in the draw -- even if it was missed by Antoine Griezmann -- and it has upset the Spain defender.

"It's fine to talk about my mistake, but what about [Benitez's] substitutions," Ramos said on Tuesday from the Spain camp after dropping out of Vicente del Bosque's squad with a shoulder injury.

"We all make mistakes, but nobody makes them on purpose. My mistake had nothing to do with the [final] result. It happens to us all -- players and managers.

"Mistakes over my career have helped me learn. It was a silly mistake, that’s all, there is no need to go into it any further.

“When you're a goal up, you feel you have the game under control, but instead of looking for the second, we found ourselves deep and defending the lead. that allowed Atleti to equalise.

"This is what it’s all about at Real Madrid. For good or for bad, one has to be prepared -- and if not then it’s time to change teams."
