Ramos: We have hope that Barça and Atletico will slip up

Sergio Ramos still has hope Real Madrid can win La Liga after Gareth Bale's header secured a late win at Real Sociedad.

The win moves Madrid top of La Liga - at least until Atletico and Barcelona play later on Saturday - and Ramos is optimistic they will drop points in one of their final three outings.

"It was our turn to play first today and we had to win to keep the league going," he said.

"Now we've put the pressure on the others and we have the hope that they will drop points."

He highlighted the number of chances his team created at Anoeta, while also praising the club's fighting spirit.

He continued: "We knew this would be difficult and we went out for the win. We didn't have much luck in the first half, but we got the goal thanks to our persistence.

"This is Real Madrid's philosophy: we fight and sacrifice for the smallest of chances. It is an exciting end to the league; we're enjoying it."

Finally, Ramos spoke about the team's ability to manage the absences of important players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

"We are not having a good run as far as injuries are concerned, with players like Cristiano and Karim having problems, but this team responds when it's needed.

"It's a deep squad, even players who don't play that often respond, like Lucas [Vazquez] and Borja [Mayoral]."
