Quique Sánchez Flores leaves job as Getafe boss after less than two months

Quique Sánchez Flores has resigned as manager of la Liga side Getafe after just 54 days in charge.

The former Atletico Madrid and Valencia manager took over the club at the beginning of January and his decision to walk away so soon is a "personal" one.

Flores had been in charge for just 11 games in all competitions, winning four of those and moving Getafe up to 14th position in the table.

"This is a personal decision, based on reflecting on my life, with the aim of not repeating situations that previously made me unhappy," he explained on Thursday.

"This is the best decision and the best way to dignify my profession and to have respect for myself.

"Thank you to Getafe, who for two months have made me feel like a significant coach.”

The 50-year-old's first job in management had been with Getafe in 2004, although his first stay at the club was not particularly long either.

After just one year in charge, he traded in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez for Valencia's Mestalla.

In the years that have followed he has also had spells coaching Benfica, Atletico, Al-Ahli and Al-Ain, before returning to Getafe earlier this year.
