Pique: You cannot doubt my committment to Spanish national team

Gerard Pique, who was once again whistled by Spain fans during the win over Luxembourg, has retired his commitment to the La Roja cause.

“I don’t want to have to repeat myself any more, but you cannot doubt [my desire to play for Spain],” he said after Vicente del Bosque’s side sealed their place at next summer’s European Championships in France.

“Look back into the archives, check my performances [with Spain] since I was 16. The national team is my home, my family and I want to keep experiencing it.”

However, the Barcelona defender also wanted to point out he’s never spoken out against the seleccion: “I’ve never said that I am against the national team or this country,” Pique commented.

Asked why people whistled, he said that’s not a question he is able to answer.

“On an individual level, I’ve played well and collectively we have done well… with time everything will be solved,” the 28-year-old added.

Away from the jeers, Pique highlighted that it was mission completed in terms of qualifying for Euro 2016, praising Spain’s recent performances, suggesting “the dynamic is changing”.
