Pichichi race: Are Suarez's goals worth more than Ronaldo's?

Pichichi race: Are Suarez's goals worth more than Ronaldo's?

Even though they both lead the La Liga goal scoring charts with 19, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals don’t have the same value for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

While the Uruguayan forward has notched eight times against teams in the European zone (Champions League and Europa League), the Portuguese has failed to score against any of them.

Suarez, against the league's biggest sides, has demonstrated that he’s a genuine ‘killer’. This is his record until now:

2. Atletico Madrid - 1 goal

3. Real Madrid - 2 goals

4. Villarreal - 1 goal

5. Sevilla - 0 goals

6. Athletic - 4 goals

Ronaldo, against the same sides, has not seen the back of the net, with his goals including eight against Espanyol but none against Barça or Atletico:

1. Barcelona - 0 goals

2. Atletico Madrid - 0 goals

4. Villarreal - 0 goals

5. Sevilla - 0 goals

6. Athletic - 0 goals

Another Barcelona player, Neymar, although he has scored less goals than Suarez and Ronaldo, has also been able to perform against Spain’s top teams. As of today, his record is:

2. Atletico Madrid - 1 goal

3. Real Madrid - 1 goal

4. Villarreal - 2 goals

5. Sevilla - 1 goal

6. Athletic - 1 goal

As for Lionel Messi, the Argentine, who missed two months injured, has only scored three goals against those teams (two against Atletico and one against Athletic). The injury, though, meant he didn’t play against Sevilla or Villarreal and only came on as a substitute against Madrid.

Regarding the rest of the BBC, Karim Benzema has three (two against Athletic and one against Atletico) and Bale, like Ronaldo, has zero.
