Paco Jemez signs one-year contract extension with Rayo Vallecano

Highly-rated Rayo Vallecano coach Paco Jemez has signed a new deal with the Madrid minnows.

Many thought he would move abroad at the end of the season, but he has committed himself to another year at the club.

Jemez's attacking style and known dislike of drawing games often mean that his team's fixtures are entertaining.

The coach has exceeded expectations in the Spanish capital and the fans will be delighted that he is signing on for another year.

Jemez's Rayo side rarely like to defend and prefer to attack their opponents relentlessly. Sometimes this doesn't work and leads to spectacular defeats, like the 6-1 at Camp Nou earlier this season.

Paco spoke to SPORT English exclusively earlier this season, saying he had faith in Luis Enrique to come good at Barcelona.

The coach said: "In Barcelona coming second is not good enough. Thats the pressure of a big team, for some coming second is great but there it’s not enough.  But I have a lot of faith in Luis because I think he's a very qualified coach with a lot of knowledge.

"And I think little by little he’s getting Barca to play very well."

It seems that he was right.
