Nuno leaves role as Valencia manager

Nuno Espirito Santo has left his position as Valencia manager after the 1-0 defeat to Sevilla on Sunday night.

Los Che failed to muster a shot on target against Unai Emery's side and ended the game with nine men after red cards to Joao Cancelo and Javi Fuego.

However, that's not the reason for Nuno leaving the club.

It's been reported he'd already decided to leave the club and communicated his decision to Peter Lim on Sunday morning.

Lim, unsuccessfully, tried to convince his manager to stay.

Nuno leaves the club ninth in La Liga after guiding them into the Champions League during his first season with the club.

They could still qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League with a win in their final group stage game.

Next up in the league is Barcelona, who are due at Mestalla next Saturday.
