More problems for Rafa Benitez at Real Madrid

The international break has not been great for Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez. Already with players out injured, he’s been handed two more injuries ahead of the return to action against Levante at the weekend.

Karim Benzema, injured on international duty with France, could miss the Champions League game against France, while Luka Modric has joined him on the sidelines. It’s not been confirmed how long the Croatian will be out for, but he will miss the Levante game.

Benitez, therefore, will be without six players who could be considered regular starters: Benzema, Modric, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos and James.

The Spanish coach, with so many injuries, may be forced to dive in to Zinedine Zidane’s Castilla squad to make up the numbers.

And what’s worse, there is still more international fixtures to be played this week. Madrid are thought to be especially disappointed that Gareth Bale is going to play for Wales against Andorra — even though the Welsh have already qualified for Euro 2016.

Los Blancos will have to cross their fingers and hope that Bale, Marcelo, Kovacic, Isco, Nacho, Cheryshev and Keylor Navas are back at Valdebebas this week fit and healthy.
