AC Milan vice-president Galliani travels to Madrid to convince Ancelotti to return

Adriano Galliani has told the Italian press that he will be in Madrid on Monday. AC Milan's vice-president would not reveal the motive for his trip to the Spanish capital, but it's likely it will include a meeting with Carlo Ancelotti.

The two have a good friendship and Milan have been linked with a move for their former coach. They believe they can convince him to take up residency at the San Siro once again.

"Tomorrow I will travel to Madrid," Galliani admitted on Sunday night. "There they have big clubs with great players. I have not said I am going to meet with Ancelotti, we will see what happens. The important thing is to return our club to its former glories. Ancelotti is manager of Madrid, like Inzaghi is manager of Milan. Summer is a long time."

While Galliani could be in Madrid to meet with Ancelotti, he could also be there to negotiate the signing of Atletico Madrid's Alessio Cerci, who has spent the second half of the season on loan at Milan.

Ancelotti, speaking at a recent press conference, didn't want to speak about his future as Real Madrid boss, but he did reveal his plans if the club do let him go: "On Monday or Tuesday I will speak with the club: Either I stay here or I take a year off."
