Martin Odegaard named in Real Madrid squad for Liga match with Almeria

Martin Odegaard could be in line to make his Real Madrid debut against Almeria on Wednesday night.

With Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale injured, and Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal suspended, Carlo Ancelotti's squad is looking a little light.

And the Italian confirmed on Tuesday that the young Norwegian will be included in the squad.

He will also call up Borja Mayoral and Marcos Llorente

Odegaard, who only turned 16 in December, signed for Madrid in January after a tour which took in some of Europe's biggest sides.

Until now he has been playing for Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid Castilla side, who he has played for eight times, scoring one goal.

He has been training with the first team occasionally, though.

It was thought he might play in the home leg of Madrid's Champions League round-of-16 tie against Schalke, becoming the youngest player to play in the competition in the process.

However, he wasn't used by Ancelotti on that occasion, but he may make his first team debut against Almeria

Of the other two youngsters called up, Mayoral is a striker and Llorente is a midfielder.
