Marco Verratti becomes the latest whim for Real Madrid

Marco Verratti is the next name to be focused on by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, as he seeks to remove the thorn in his side in the aftermath of losing out to Barcelona over Andre Gomes.

Real are willing to spend 50 million euros on the Italian midfielder, although Paris Saint-Germain aren't considering any offers for the 23-year-old and coach Unai Emery sees the player as a key component in his team.

Zinedine Zidane has already cited Paul Pogba as Los Blancos' big summer signing and with Gomes joining Barça and no other clear alternatives, Perez needs to get down to business if he's not to be seen as the summer's loser in the transfer market.

Pending the FIFA transfer sanctions that will prevent any further signings, Real continue to push ahead in order to strengthen their squad with "three top players" for Zidane's first full season in charge.

So far, it's been a fiasco for the European champions having only secured the return of Alvaro Morata from Juventus and seen the likes of Fabio Coentrao, Marco Asensio and Jesus Vallejo join back up with the squad after their respective loan spells ended last season.
