Marco Reus more likely to sign for Real Madrid than Barcelona, claims Metzelder

Former Real Madrid player Christoph Metzelder, who was at the club for three seasons between 2007-10, has controversially told German newspaper Bild that Marco Reus is more likely to choose Real Madrid than Barcelona.

The Borussia Dortmund forward seems set to leave at the end of the season and La Liga's two biggest teams are both interested in him.

Metzelder said: "If Reus had to choose between them, Madrid would be the easiest option.

"Madrid is a club more cosmopolitan and global than Barcelona. Barcelona is Catalunya. They prefer to go for players from the house."

Metzelder admitted that Real Madrid have a galaxy of stars but said Reus can fit in there.

"It is true that in Real Madrid there's not much space in the attack. But if any club can accomodate a player like Reus, it's Real Madrid. Angel Di Maria had to leave so they could get Toni Kroos."

Reus is currently recovering from his umpteenth injury and has not been able to help Dortmund, who have accrued only 15 points in 16 game weeks.
