Marco Asensio does not want to return to Real Madrid

RCD Espanyol forward Marco Asensio says he is not interested in returning to Real Madrid before the end of the season. And about the option of playing for Holland, he said: "They have made contact, but my intention is to stay with the Spanish national team."

Real Madrid had been rumoured to want to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu in January, as his loan deal allows. But the footballer said: "I don't know anything about Madrid. I've not had contact with them, I'm comfortable with this team and my idea is to stay here until the end of the season."

Asensio has four assists already, but is yet to score his first goal. "It's resisting me, I have a lot of enthusiasm to score and I'm sure that if I score one, many more will come."

NO TO HOLLAND

Asensio spoke about a campaign in Holland to get him to play for the country, as he is eligible for dual nationality. The star said: "My intention is staying with the Spanish national team. I found out about the campaign but I've been with the Spanish 'seleccion' since 16 years old, I want to go step by step and my intention is to continue."

However, he said he "hasn't received any call from Del Bosque", the Spanish coach.
