Las Palmas end game with eight men but still beat Zaragoza in eight-goal thriller

Former Barcelona loanee Sergio Araujo scored twice as Las Palmas beat Real Zaragoza 5-3 despite finishing the game with just eight players on the pitch.

Fortunately for the Canary Islanders, they were already leading 4-1 when Nauzet Aleman, Angel Lopez and Juan Emmanuel Culio all saw red with just under 20 minutes of the match remaining.

Nauzet was the first to walk, pulled up by the referee for an off the ball incident.

In the aftermath of the protests which followed, Angel was sent off for what appeared to be a push and Culio was also given his marching orders for his arguing.

Araujo had given Las Palmas the lead after just nine minutes, but Zaragoza equalised through Pedro five minutes later.

But Las Palmas stand clear at the top of the Segunda table for a reason and they soon exerted their authority over this game with further goals from Nauzet, Marcelo Silva and a second from Araujo.

After the red cards were dished out, Zaragoza were left with just over 15 minutes to pull back three goals against eight men.

Willian Jose did score twice for them, but sandwiched in between his goals was a fifth for Las Palmas, Roque Mesa Quevado the benefactor of a fine run from Araujo.
