Keylor Navas tried to push trough Man Utd move on Tuesday

Disappointed by the treatment he had received from Real Madrid, who wanted to swap him for David de Gea, Keylor Navas tried to force through his move to Manchester United on Tuesday, when the English transfer market was still open.

According to the 'Daily Mirror', the Costa Rican goalkeeper was ready to sign for the Red Devils because of how Madrid had acted on Monday. Madrid, though, halted a deal which would have left them with just Kiko Casilla to keep goal.

After the transfer didn't go through, Navas met with Rafa Benitez, who told him he had confidence in him and confirmed he will be Los Blancos's No.1 this season. Previously, Florentino Perez had apologised to Navas, with the keeper's agent asking for a wage increase.

Marca say that Navas's representative spent three hours in difficult negotiations on Monday with United, who were prepared to offer a higher salary than Madrid. Navas now feels Madrid should have to make up for that as compensation for Monday's last minute transfer fail.
