Javier Tebas on TV rights deal: "A new La Liga has arrived"

Javier Tebas says "a new La Liga has arrived".

The president of the LFP was speaking after the government passed a proposition which stops clubs selling rights individually, favouring sides like Real Madrid and Barcelona.

According to sports minister Jose Ignacio Wert, half of the income from a TV deal will be shared out equally between top division clubs.

The other half will go in accordance with performance over the previous five seasons, the size of the club and other criteria.

Tebas, speaking in Mesico, said: "A new La Liga has arrived and it will develop unstoppably in order to equal and overtake our competitors.

"This decision by the Spanish Government marks an historic milestone for Spanish professional football and will allow it to be more competitive on national and international markets."
