James Rodriguez's future at Real Madrid remains in doubt

Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez is at the top of the list of players the club would be willing to transfer in the summer. The club’s new boss, Zinedine Zidane, has lost confidence in the Colombian and as of today does not see him in his plans for next season, according to the website ‘Madrid-Barcelona’.

Zidane has ran out of patience with James after the 24-year-old failed to take advantage of the various opportunities the French coach has handed to him. The player has not been at the level expected and his performances - under Rafa Benitez and now Zidane - are a long way from those of last season.

Isco is Zidane’s preferred option in the side and James is often left on the bench. An injury to Gareth Bale has opened the door for James to start games, but the Colombian, largely, has struggled to seize that chance in recent weeks. When Bale is back, Zidane is clear that James will fall out the team again.

Zidane has already communicated to the Madrid board that he doesn’t count on James for next season and to look for a team who will pay 85 million euros for him - the same as Los Blancos paid. Off the pitch, he’s also created headlines for his nights out, weight problems and a run in with the police.
