Isco waiting on the improved Madrid contract promised by Florentino Perez

There are few players more fashionable at Real Madrid than Isco right now. He has been the shining light throughout some difficult moments in 2015, despite starting the season as a reserve, with Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and James Rodriguez ahead of him in midfield.

However, injuries to Bale at first, then Modric and James have given him the chance to play, to get minutes and to show Carlo Ancelotti that he is ready to be a regular starter.

The man from Malaga is in his second season at the club after signing for €30million and turning down an offer from Manchester City to secure a move to the Bernabeu. He has a deal in the Spanish capital until 2018, although he was promised by Florentino Perez that his contract could be reviewed if he became an important player at the club.

Madrid's president now has to stick to his word and raise Isco's salary to correlate with his performances.

Waiting for news

Isco has still not heard from the club about his salary moving up the pecking order. He hopes to move into the second batch of players in terms of earnings, or at least to the top of the bottom batch.

He is calm, focused on his work, continuing to grow and performing fantastically. But he is still waiting on the call from the club to begin talks over a new contract which is merited and which was promised by Perez.

It's unlikely it will lead to him leaving, though, as Higuain, Ozil and Di Maria did when they didn't get their pay rises. Not many clubs would pay the €150million release clause for Isco.

He does not turn 23 until April and he is looking better and better every week. He has become a fans' favourite at the Bernabeu and Madrid need to make sure he doesn't become unhappy.
