Iker Casillas gives revealing interview on Canal + about Arbeloa, Jose Mourinho and being whistled

Iker Casillas spoke to Inaki Gabilondo on Canal +. The Real Madrid goalkeeper said a lot of interesting things and these are his key quotes.

-----------------------------------------------------------

1. On his silence over Mourinho row: Maybe I should have talked but I opted to maintain my silence. Many have criticised me for staying quiet. I think it makes you more angry than when you can speak out. We had a professional relationship and that is all. I decided to shut up.

2. On potentially leaving Real Madrid and Spain: Yes, I did think about leaving. You do not want to upset the balance or create a bad environment, because you always want Madrid to win. But then you think “you have to compete and fight”. These last two years have seen me fight and struggle. There were no clear-cut offers for me and I want to finish my career here.

3. Being whistled by Real Madrid fans: The public are free to do what they want but it also hurts me. Being here for so long, however, means I have to accept certain things.

4. Being enemies with Alvaro Arbeloa: We disagree on the visions for the squad but now things are friendly and polite. In the match against Ludogorets our relationship was fine. Away from football our relationship is not the same as it was a few years ago, but it is cordial.
