Former Madrid man Alvaro Arbeloa offers himself to Espanyol

Espanyol are searching for players on the transfer market, with coach Quique Sanchez Flores hoping to add some men to the squad.

The Pericos are trying to sign Martin Demichelis and hope to be able to complete that in the coming hours, while former Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has offered himself to the club.

Espanyol want a player that can play as a centre-back and a right-back, positions which are worrying Quique. Arbilla is not ready and Javi Lopez is not in the coach's favour.

Arbeloa has been without a team since he left Real Madrid at the end of last season. He's 33 and has negotiated with Milan and Roma, without arriving at a deal. He wanted to try an overseas adventure, but has always considered Espanyol an option. The club needs to decide if they will negotiate with him or look for other options. What's clear is that Espanyol are looking for footballers with experience - and that Quique is taking all the decisions.
