Florentino Perez wants 80m euro youngster Renato Sanches

The latest whim of Florentino Perez to improve Real Madrid is just 18 years old, having recently started his career with Benfica, and will cost 80 million euros. Renato Sanches, midfielder, fits the profile the Madrid president wants - he has quality, potential and costs a fortune, something that adds pedigree to the signings he likes for the squad.

The Portuguese midfielder, from Cabo Verde originally, has played 36 games with the first team and scored six goals. Benfica are conscious various clubs, including Barcelona, Man United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, are interested and gave him a new contract until June 2021 with an 80 million release fee clause. A barbarity for everyone... except Florentino.

Real Madrid are waiting to see if they can sign players in the summer, hoping their appeal delays their ban like it did for Barcelona, and this, along with the need to remodel the squad, mean Florentino is prepared to launch an aggressive transfer campaign if he can, with many high profile footballers in his plans.

On top of this he also wants to sign young, promising players, with good potential, but like with Odegaard there's always the danger they don't live up to expectations.
