How Madrid chief Florentino Perez blocked Denis Suarez's move to Barcelona
The hope Denis Suarez would sign for Barcelona on deadline day was slim, but Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ended up blocking the operation anyway. The player asked to leave Villarreal, but knew unless they found a replacement, it would not happen.
Villarreal tried to sign Denis Cheryshev, from Real Madrid, but Los blancos turned down the bid, despite it being the best offer they had. Instead he is set to join Valencia on loan.
Barcelona's transfer window has been a non-starter, with their offer for Nolito turned down too. Denis Suarez is set to rejoin them in the summer, though.
