Espanyol confirm signing of former Sevilla forward Jose Antonio Reyes

Espanyol have confirmed their second signing of the summer.

After the arrival of goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez from Greek side Olympiakos, they have now closed a deal for Jose Antonio Reyes, a player who was specifically requested by new manager Quique Sanchez Flores and was out of contract at Sevilla.

Reyes will sign a two-year deal with the club, although the second year is dependent on his performances in the first year, the Catalan club officially revealed.

The forward had offers from Greece and Qatar which were worth more financially than Espanyol's offer, but he prioritised the chance to stay in Spain and to play under Sanchez Flores again, who he previously worked with at Benfica and Atletico Madrid.

Reyes joins an exciting project and will have to bring experience, although he is not assured of a regular starting spot. He's a player that has the total confidence of his new manager, though.

If the Andalusian player doesn't have any problems with his medical, he will be presented on Wednesday at Cornella-Prat.

But while Reyes has signed, Espanyol have missed out on Nicolas N'Koulou. The Cameroon centre-back has signed for Lyon instead.
